Formed in 1909, by a multiracial group of progressive thinkers, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) established with the objective of insuring the political, educational, social, and economic equality of minority groups. The NAACP has as its mission the goal of eliminating race prejudice and removing all barriers of racial discrimination through democratic processes. As the Nations oldest and largest civil right organization, the NAACP has worked successfully with the allies of all races who believe in and stand for the principles on which the organization was founded. Throughout its history, some of Americas greatest minds have worked to effect change. From coporate partnerships to tireless volunteer labor, the NAACP has evolved to meet the challanges of the day, while remaining tru to its origional mission. With renewed commitment, the new NAACP is poised to meet the challanges of the 21st century.
Regular meetings are held each and every 2nd Thursday of the month, 7:30pm at the L.L. Milton YMCA 3455 Sarah St. Beumont Texas.
Youth council meets each and every 1st Saturday of the month at 11:00am @ the NAACP Beaumont Branch office at 3260 Washington Blvd. in Beaumont, TX. Throughout the year the youth council spends time helping in the community. They asist with housing projects, and help with the elderly and other needed activities.
